Summary

Volunteers needed for invasive plant at "The Blue House." Join us on Saturday, Feb. 23rd from 9:00 am to noon.

Description

A non-native, invasive plant is a plant from another region or continent, that is introduced into a new environment (in our case the Verde Valley), where it spreads aggressively, and is difficult and costly to control.  Officially, a non-native, invasive species is defined as “a species whose introduction causes or is likely to cause economic or environmental harm, or harm to human health.” Click here to learn more about invasive plants in the Verde Watershed.

WHAT: Volunteers will be needed for invasive plant removal, namely "tree of heaven" at the Blue House. Join us on Saturday, February 23rd from 9:00 am to noon.

This will involve digging, pulling, and spraying herbicide. Please bring gloves, rain jacket, eye protection, and a water bottle. Wear comfortable clothing: long pants, long-sleeve shirt, and closed-toed shoes. Friends will provide refill water, snacks, hand saws, and loppers. If you have your own tools, feel free to bring them along.

Meeting Place: The Bee Stop near Main Stage in Cottonwood

If late call: 928 274-8115
